Always getting dazed when hit.

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

Cheetah is most likely causing you to be dazed.
Another possiblity is many creatures can daze you if they attack you from behind. Try to keep them in front of you until you have slowed their movement, or your pet has regained aggro. Then move away for your ranged attacks.

Thanks very much for a FAST response.
:P
Yeah, look at the tooltip for Aspect of the Cheeta, “hunter will become dazed if struck”
Had a guildie ask me when I was dueling him on my rogue, why he was getting dazed. I thought it was from my mace, but nope, he had cheeta on :P -Wheels

Red Wings: 25 – 19 – 9I am a lvl 33 hunter and it does not matter what the lvl of my attacker is that I am always dazed when hit.
I can be hit by a level 5 wolf and I do the dazed walk.
Is there a fix to this? I have got the best armor one can buy and still seems to to help. Do other higher lvl hunter have this same issue? If not what did you do to fix it.
Please advise. Getting tired of the freaking “slow walk” lol.

whats your spec and why?

Just changed over from MM to survival. I enjoy getting people out of my face via a melee shot or two, and this build helps with that.
Damage is about the same, but chance to crit went a lot higher.
I’m still in blues so the agility bonus was nice.-
Female gamers really do exist, and we are at our best during PMS. survival spec 21/30 as well.
i just finished trying a 0/31/20 build but i didn’t like it as much. nice agility there by the way – a lot higher than mine (now at 464 with my lightning reflexes back).
marks… i dunno, apparently does more damage. trueshot aura could be utilised better in a dps group. maybe. i found it wasn’t in the raids i was in so that removed the one benefit i could see. i reckon damage is about comparable. i have slightly more RAP with survival build. so it’s then barrage vs. killer instinct. i’ll be doing a bit less damage (and probably pulling aggro more) with this build. but counterattack, and more health. i can live with that.-60 Hunter 0/7/44

For PVP BGs it really doesn’t matter. No matter where you go chances are PUGs are gonna get stomped by guild runs. Most guild runs are all in Vent or Teamspeak, where as the PUG has to use the old keyboard style that means your not moving and your not fighting while you are typing… that’s bad. Don’t take it to much to heart about that. just Practice and do your best to work as a team.-Alliance

Leveling your pet

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Got my first pet at 10 and kept it for longest time. I thought now that I hit 40, and I can x-train for skills. Worked so far, but when I tried a cat, I think I made a mistake. The Mountain Lion was like level 24. I had to fight level 35′s to get points to raise the cat. The cat is doing nothing to help, no damage, can’t hold aggro. Nothing but a meat pit. Should I drop him and get a level closer to mine? SLOWLY he got to level 30 to pick up alot of talents but still is 11 levels back.-Moved to Kil’Jaeden

Jumpshotting

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Basically what Skribs said
The only thing I’d add is that you don’t have to turn much. Remember that you have a roughly 180 firing radius, so if you make even a quarter turn in mid air and fire, it will make it easier to turn back.
A lot of people try to spin in a full circle when jump-shotting, but that’s just making it more difficult (and dangerous) than it needs to be.
What level is your hunter? There are some really good mobs to practice on in your upper 50s, but if you’re lower than that the best thing to do is to find a mob a few levels higher and try to pull them back to town (for example, if you’re 15… try to pull a LV 20-22 mob from the WC area back to Crossroads). This will help you get an idea of how best to do it.
The other viable way to get experience is… (Dun dun dun) PVP. I find world PVP is especially effective in this training if you’re on a PVP server… since it’s not planned and may be unexpected.

ideal dual wield

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Those 5 rogues you have found are not very typical. I see a lot of dual wielders (fury warriors and rogues) which run around with > 200 hit rating on their gear.
This 24 miss chance also only applies for white damage (that are those autoattacks from both weapons).
Special attacks only need the normal 5 (against even level mobs) or 9 (against bosses at level 70).
So why would anyone dualwield? Have you ever compared the DPS of a typical 1h weapon and a two hand weapon?. A 1h weapon has a lot more than half the DPS of a 2h weapon.
Also both weapons get their damage increased from your melee attack power and things like that. Of course the different classes talents make dual wielding very attractive for them. Rogues plainly have no alternative as they cannot use 2h weapons. (But don’t be sad for them, they are the top DPS class for single target dps unless they get smashed by the boss).-Hunter FAQ
SW 6/6; Thori’dal, the Stars’ Fury more bag space since Oct 28
This is not a post about whether dual or 2H is better. I know it depends on stats, 2H gives higher stats (typically) while dual gives flexibility. But what I’m wondering is, what is the ideal dual weild combo to shoot for? The sticky lists recommended epic, non-raid gear but only lists 2H’ers. Are there any end-gamer dual wielders out there?
On a slightly off topic note, I was looking into how Hit Rating works and learned that at maximum weapon skill vs a raid boss, there’s a 5 miss rate with a 2H weapon and I’d need a hit rating of 142 to eliminate that. But the article said that with dual wielders, the miss chance goes up to 24 with a corresopnding increase in HR. Now granted with us, that’s not a huge issue since we stay at range (though if I need to wing clip to get back to range, I want more than a 3 in 4 chance of hitting). Anyway, with that type of disparity, why would ANY class want to dual wield? We don’t have any 70 rogues in my guild, so I poked around the Armory a bit and of the 5 lvl 70 rogues I found, the highest hit rating was 67 which doesn’t even come close to ensuring a 2H hit, let alone dual weild. -Outside of a dog, a book is man’s best friend.

Hunter stats for heroics

Friday, March 5th, 2010

You should be fine.
If you can get into Kara, namely your guild runs it or you have plans on getting into raid with friends, then I wouldn’t really bother. You can get enough gear from normal 70 instances to get into Kara fine, and badges come pretty quickly in there. Only reason I’ve ever really run heroics was to help gear up and to do the daily. by doing all of that you should be perfect to start doing heroics! Thanks for the input. I’ll work on getting more AP and already got plans to complete the Fel Leather set and the Ebon Netherscale set which will greatly increase my Hit Rating as well as boost my mana pool. Also, most of my gear isn’t enchanted yet as many pieces still need to be upgraded before entering heroics.I’d shoot for 1500+ AP, at least 90+ To hit, a more reliable number being 120 or so. maybe more mana unless you rarely go OOM, it just looks a bit low to me. Your crit chance and dps look pretty good for Heroics so dont worry about them
Edit: Just though I’d say that I am baseing all of this off of my dads Hunter who just started running heroics with his guild. I on the other hand have little experience with Hunters.
Edited, Dec 13th 2007 7:10pm by KillerhealsJust curious what stats I should be shooting for before starting to run Heroics regulary. What should I aim for for minimum DPS, Hit Chance and Crit Cahnce and any other stats that may affect heroic performance.
Just for reference, these are my current stats: 284.7 DPS (buffed with Hawk), 1326 Power, 5.58 Hit Chance, 17.14 Crit Chance, 7178 HP, 5383 Mana, 4189 Armor

Grouping with Huntards!

Friday, March 5th, 2010

OMG just today on my priest alt, I remembered just how terrible hunters can be in a group. Honestly, I’ve seen other classes played badly, terribly even, but none seem to be played as badly as the hunter class. I’ve seen priests that refused to heal or even offheal because they were DPS shadow, I’ve seen Shamans that never dropped totems and didn’t even know they had to buy ankhs to res. Warriors who charge in at every mob then can’t hold aggro, but nothing even comes close to a badly played hunter…
We ran SM GY just fine, but our group had 2 huntards in it, and they BOTH ran out of arrows and proceeded to try to melee in SM Library. Neither ever dropped traps, both pets were rampantly out of control, huntards yelling “HEAL PET” even though they had full mana, pulling adds into even fights, no CC at all.
What is with people who think hunters are a melee class? I think when you make a hunter, there should be a big disclaimer that says “you suck at melee, use ranged weapons”. I guess people think, looky here, I’m a hunter, I can melee good, cuz I hunts stuffs! Hunters use melee right, I can melee leetsauze!
Edited, Dec 20th 2007 7:33pm by Theophany wrote wrote:
Honestly, yes, shamans need some work in PvP. A limited CC, a snare break for the bring shamans back in line with other classes, but honestly, shamans are already a pretty powerful class in PvP. I don’t want this to turn into another flame thread with you whining at me, so I’ll leave it there.

Traps really need to scale with gear

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Honestly, I’ve come to the point in Heroics and Kara where I ask not to trap anymore; so many resists, and traps breaking in only a few seconds. And even in all Mail, it only takes heroic mobs 3 hits to kill me. So, trap breaks early in a fight? Me=dying, and probably the party.
I’m in t4 gear, so the trap CD set bonus from BM set is a little under for me. And I’m BM, no trap talents.
But does anyone else agree with me? And, what do you do try and manage that? Kiting, of course would be the 1st answer you’d all say, but what percentage of heroic/kara mobs aren’t immunte to Frost Trap and Concussive shot? You seriously need to ask? If you can’t make up your mind… make another alt until you can decide.
If you ask in the hunter forums which one you should level… chances are your going to be recommended to not play the hunter in the hopes that we don’t get anymore Huntards in the game.
No one can decide for you.-Alliance

Good DPS?

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

The last two things I’ve done on my hunter I was lucky enough to have a fella running WWS reports on. A kara badge run and a gruuls run. I got to study these a bit and I wonder why more hunters aren’t doin this kind of dps.
